Teaching: Architecture and architectural composition IV
Module (where present subdivision into modules): /

ECTS: 9
SSD: ICAR / 14
Hours of lessons: 60
Practice hours: 60

Educational objectives:
The fundamental objective of the course is to guarantee the conditions for a cultural preparation and operational capacity fully adequate to the complexity of the contents of the architectural project and is pursued through an articulated didactic offer which, with diversified approaches according to the various disciplines converging in the area, gradually leads to the mastery of the design process in every phase, from that of conception and general setting, to that of executive development and definition of detail. Compared to the previous compulsory Architecture and Architectural Composition courses, the specificity of this course lies in the themes and ways in which they are addressed both in the course of lectures and in exercises, aimed at the elaboration of a project, which can be developed as synthesis experience preparatory to the degree thesis. The theme is a project that integrates the complexity of the architectural object with the contextual one. These are problems generally related to the design of public facilities or linked to forms of continuity between architecture and landscape. The design process proceeds as a critical experimentation also with regard to structural and plant solutions.

Contents:
The course explores the problems and methods of architectural design, referring in particular to the correlations between the architectural work and the context it belongs to, in the broadest sense of the term, the constructive feasibility of the work and the role of technologies that contribute to the design summary. The exercises develop the architectural project on complex themes, both in relation to the functional program, and to the articulation of the different spaces making up the building and its extensions in the context in which it is located, and in relation to its production.
